Clinton River Association of Fermenting Trendsetters

Established in 1996, we are brewers of beer, and makers of wine and mead. We meet monthly to share and compare our homebrew recipes, techniques, and of course to sample each others creations.

We usually take our meetings on the road to one of the many quality breweries in the area. Stayed tuned to our website for upcoming meetings in your area and if interested in joining, stop in to experience the wonders of home brewed beer as our guest.

News:

1/23/10 - English Brown COC Results - Thanks to all who showed up last night and entered. We judged Cat. 11, English Brown Ales. 12 entries from 9 entrants. 4 Milds, 7 Northerns and 1 Southern. First place goes to Brian H. for his Mild. 2nd goes to Jim S. for his Northern Brown. and 3rd goes to Rob M. for his mild. We all had a great time. I'll have scoresheets today at Mike's and at the party. All beers were really good. Average score was in mid/upper 30s.

1/23/10 - The CRAFT Post Holiday Party is just around the corner.  It will be held on January 30th at Gourmet Manor in Roseville.  Checkout the forum for details.

8/21/09 - The Summer/Autumn Party date has been decided.  It will be help on September 19th at the Lieblang Estate.  Thank you Phill and Michelle for agreeing to host it this year.  Look for more information about the event over the next few weeks.

7/30/09 - There will be two more Beer Festivals starting this year, Oktoberfest in Marquette held on September 12th and Harvest Fest will held on October 24th in Detroit's Eastern Market.  Keep posted for further details.

7/29/09 - Online registration for the 2009 Michigan Renaissance Festival Competition (Beer Barons Brew Brawl) is now open thru Aug. 9th.  In addition to the competition events, Hopman's Beer and Wine Making Supply cordially invites you to come out and brew your beers, meads and wines at the festival.  All brewing participants will be given admission to the festival and a 20% discount on any beer, mead, and wine ingredients used to brew during the festival.

7/29/09 - Call to all beer judges to participate in the Renaissance Festival Homebrew Judging. This year's judging will take place at Hopman's in Waterford, tentatively on Saturday, 8/29.  Receive a full lunch with snacks, plus tickets for free entry into the festival -- as well as BJCP points.  Please register yourself on our website and select "Sign In".

7/17/09 - Mead Day, August 1, 2009 • 10am - 5pm at B. Nektar Meadery Mead Day Schedule:

     * 10:00 – Open ( Mead Tasting Starts )
     * 10:30 - 11:30 – Mead Making Demo ( Ancient Orange )
     * 11:30 - 1:00 – Food and Music (BBQ w/ sauces made with mead)
     * 1:30 - 2:30 – Mead Making Demo ( Spiced Cyser )
     * 2:30 - 3:00 – Music
     * 3:00 - 4:00 – Varietal Honey with Ken Schramm
     * 4:00 – Schramm book signing begins, music
     * 4:00 - 5:00 – Mead Making Demo ( Unusual Ingredients )
     * 5:00 – Close ( Tasting Ends )

7/8/09 - August 1st from 10 till 5 at B. Nektar is Mead Day!  This event is open to all.  We should get a bunch of people to meet up at B. Nektar and support them.  Especially since they have supported us (Winter Party).

7/7/09 - We have changed up the newsletter a bit.  Instead of releasing it before a meeting we are now going to be releasing a new addition just after the meeting.  With that in mind check out the CRAFT Newsletter 07-2009.

6/29/09 - Preparations for the 2009 Michigan Renaissance Festival Competitions are under way. Registration opens on 7/24/2009 and new details will be posted at www.snobsbrewclub.com/renfest.

6/29/09 - Our education corner tomorrow will be on Cat 7. Amber Hybrid beers. This includes Altbier and California Common. If you've brewed one of these beers and its ready to go, bring a sample to the meeting tomorrow. We'll also have 4 commercial examples we will be tasting. It'd be great to compare these to homebrews of the same style.
